American Football Initiative Expands Across Ugandan Schools, especially those in Buganda Kingdom like Lubiri Nabagereka Primary School Mengo, Lubiri High School Mengo, Buganda Royal Institute of Business and Technical Education and Muteesa 1 Royal University Inspiring Youth Development, and within the Buganda Kingdom communities and surrounding areas.
We have intensified its grassroots campaign to introduce and grow American Football in Buganda Kingdom


The event titled “American Football Introduced at Buganda Institutions” showcased the education for coaches in launching of the sport within Buganda’s higher-learning community. During the ceremony, Coach Imran known as Grace Imran Ssumujju, Founder, CEO, and Executive Director of Marketing and International Relations for Nakawa American Football Association (NAFA), met the Dean of Students and Sports tutor highlighted the sport’s value in promoting discipline, teamwork, and new athletic opportunities. Participants learned about the its new coming programs especially learning game rules and educational benefits of American football, emphasizing how it can expand co-curricular options at Buganda Royal Institute and inspire students to explore a modern, globally recognized sport.

“We are pleased to welcome American football into our institutions. This initiative strengthens discipline, teamwork, and leadership among our students. We appreciate Coach Imran’s dedication and the enthusiasm shown by our student community. Together, we look forward to building a strong and inclusive sports culture.”

The Head Teacher Mis. Nampija Immaculate through Mr. Kasumba, Head of Sports reveals that Lubiri High School is one of Uganda’s historic and strategically positioned secondary schools located in the heart of Mengo, Kampala. Known for its strong academic foundation and disciplined student body, the school serves a diverse population of learners with growing interest in both academics and co-curricular development.
The institution has shown openness to innovative sports programs and youth development initiatives, making it an ideal partner for the introduction and growth of American football and flag football in Uganda. With a vibrant student community and supportive leadership, Lubiri High School provides a fertile environment for identifying and nurturing talented student-athletes.
Importantly, the school’s student population includes learners whose families have international connections, particularly in the United States. This creates a unique opportunity to build structured pathways linking sports participation, academic excellence, and potential overseas education opportunities.
Through collaboration with Lubiri High School, stakeholders can effectively develop grassroots talent, promote character development through sport, and position deserving student-athletes for future academic and athletic advancement on the global stage.
